Benchmark Analysis: Team Return, Hiring, and Post-Pandemic Changes

As arts organizations open their doors to audiences and visitors, they are simultaneously building back to a full-strength staff. Our recent Arts Executive poll surveyed leaders on the current size of their teams, their hiring plans, and the skills they most want to enhance on their staff.

Highlights from the survey include:

• Less than half of arts organizations are back to pre-pandemic staff size. On average, teams are 85% of the size they were pre-pandemic.

• The good news is 90% of organizations are hiring - to both backfill lost roles and for newly created positions.

• DEI&A and Major Gift Cultivation are the top skills/expertise leaders most want to bolster on their teams in the coming year.
