Benchmark Analysis: Talent Management
April 25, 2022
In the context of the "Great Resignation," recruiting and retaining staff continues to be a challenge for many arts organizations. Our latest Arts Executive Poll asked arts leaders to benchmark themselves on ratings of their organization's values and working cultures, as well as any changes made to improve hiring, retention and employee development. Highlights from the survey include:
To art leaders, job flexibility and remote work are some of the most important job attributes new hires value, right above artistic reputation; relatedly, office space is one of the least important.
Likewise, about one-fifth of arts organizations have made significant revisions to working formats to allow for more staff flexibility
However, arts leaders believe that many more areas in the workplace still need change in order to improve working culture, especially with regards to career growth opportunities and increasing internal transparency.
While over half perceive a more competitive hiring landscape today versus 6 months ago, the average time to fill new positions is still generally within 3 months.
