Fernanda Barrera

Senior Research Analyst

Fernanda primarily serves as the research lead for projects commissioned by ABA’s European members.

Prior to joining ABA, Fernanda served for more than two years as Program Officer for the Graduate Degree Program at the Fulbright Commission in Mexico. She has also collaborated with institutions such as the Spanish Cultural Center in Mexico and the University of California’s representation in Mexico, working as a communications intern and researcher, respectively. In addition, she has published several articles in academic journals exploring the political, economic, and material complexities of cultural heritage and their connections to cultural/public diplomacy and international relations.

Fernanda holds a BA in International Relations from Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) and is currently writing her master’s dissertation in World Heritage Studies at the Brandenburg University of Technology (BTU). She is based in Madrid, where she lives with her husband and cat.
