Benchmarks on Youth Education Programs (i.e., K-12)
August 2nd, 2022
With more mask mandates and COVID restrictions being lifted across the globe despite persistent cases, cultural organizations are reevaluating their K-12 education initiatives as they rebuild from programs adjusted during the pandemic. Our latest Arts Leader Survey asked arts leaders to benchmark themselves on changes to the structure of school programs surrounding education budgeting, strategies around student interactions, and operational policies regarding on-site and off-site visits. Highlights from the survey include:
Compared to the last fiscal year, over half of arts organizations have increased budgets for overall education programs, and within that budget, about half have increased the budget portion for youth education programs.
For the next fiscal year, arts organizations have made moves to increase the number of education staff and teaching artists, as well as re-evaluating their training and responsibilities.
For Fall 2022, over half of arts organizations have increased compensation rates for teaching artists.
