Our latest ABA Executive Benchmark explored the state of capital funds and endowments at arts and cultural organizations.
Highlights from the survey include:
Most organizations are looking ahead to a year with the same or lower budget deficits compared to last year, with over a third anticipating no deficit.
While contributed income from government and corporate funders is thought to have the greatest potential decrease this year, there is optimism from a majority of organizations about potential increases in single ticket revenues and individual donations.
Half of organizations agree that, to feel sustainable, cash reserves should cover at least 6 months (or 50%) of an operating budget.
A large majority of participating organizations have endowments, though the sizes of those funds relative to current budgets vary.
