Our latest ABA Executive Benchmark asked arts and cultural leaders about the state of our their current development efforts, including the overall evolution of contributed income in recent years, the budgets allocated to fundraising and donor retention rates.
Highlights from the survey include:
Contributed revenue as a percent of total revenue has moderately risen since 2019, with only 16% of participating organizations reporting a decrease.
In the past fiscal year, individual giving made up the majority of giving for most reporting institutions; overall, corporate giving has decreased since pre-pandemic.
At nearly half of responding organizations, a majority of development staff have been in at the institution for under three years.
For a majority of organizations, donor retention is now the same or higher than it was before the pandemic.
